This is a great gift idea for all ages — from the young new cook in the family to the experienced elder to the person just getting in touch with their Hungarian heritage! What a special opportunity for a family project that connects the generations!
How do Hungarian Food Memories Journal Pages work? When you purchase this item you will receive a pdf via email that can be downloaded and printed with thoughtful questions regarding Hungarian food memories as well as a page for you to use as you plan what you want to cook for each month. The purpose of these monthly pages is to encourage documentation of the monthly recipes you cook, answers to a variety of food memory questions, and ignite interesting conversations with your friends and family. The pdf document has all the pages for the entire year, but you can print them out month-by-month as you go along or all at once, whatever works best for you.
How to use Hungarian Food Memories Journal Pages? Each month decide on a Hungarian recipe you want to make. Take notes on that recipe – our first journal page has some great questions built in! Our second journal page has another level of questions – an opportunity to dig a little deeper. The other pages will provide space for special recipes and recipe stories.
How sweet would it be to have a grandchild “interview” a grandparent about various food memories each month and then have a collection of answers to keep? Or what about a grandparent cooking a favorite dish for the grandchildren so the next generation can taste and experience the cultural history? What about siblings or cousins coming together to cook and share their experiences and memories monthly or quarterly? Maybe this is your own project and you invite all sorts of people to participate with you? There are so many ways this exchange can go and it can be an amazing family project to connect the generations – even if they live in different areas!
If you come from a family with Hungarian food traditions, this is a perfect way to document your family’s history. If you don’t have a lot if Hungarian food traditions, this project will surely put you on the path!
