Great Plains Heart Pillow
These heart pillows have often been purchased to be the ring bearer’s pillow–what a lovely way to add a Hungarian touch to a wedding! They also make a beautiful accent pillow and conversation piece.
The Great Plain motifs are perhaps the most stunning examples of hand-cut reverse felt appliqué. The traditional motif from the Great Plain region dates back to the 18th century, where it was first seen on the wool cloaks of the Hungarian shepherds. Examples of these can still be seen today in Hungary in museums throughout the country. Although the felt quality has changed, the technique used to create this pillow is still the same that was used in the 18th century. The Great Plain is the central plain of the Carpathian basin. Hand-cut reverse felt appliqué on a felt background, with hand-chiseled edging. Filled with polyester pillow stuffing. We also carry a Christmas stocking in a similar style.
